1920-21 Benaders (the Ports) Issues

In accordance with the 7th Congress of the Universal Postal Union, held at Madrid during October 10 to November 30, 1920, the postal rate for the mail going abroad was raised from 6 Shahis (6ch) for the postcards to 10 Shahis (10ch) and from 12 Shahis (ch) to 1 Kran for letters. Although these changes went into effect throughout the country, however, the Indian post offices operating in the southern ports of Iran at that time did not raise their rates. Thus the Iranian postal authorities allowed the post offices throughout the southern port cities to maintain the old rate, but in order to prevent any confusion or extra charges at the destinations of the mail, the needed stamps were handstamped with the proper value.

The name "BENADERS" in Farsi means "the ports". The following blocks of four are quite rare and guaranteed to be genuine. Each lot is accompanied by Persiphila certificate of authenticity.
